| Acerola or barbados cherry is the edible fruit of Malpighia glabra, of the
genera Bunchiosa and Malpighia of the family Malpighiaceae. The fleshy red stone
fruits, about the size of a cherry, contain very high amounts of vitamin C.
Acerola is eaten fresh and used to make jams and jellies. As well as having
potent commercial value as important source for natural vitamin C, acerola also
possess other useful vitamins and minerals. |
